So the last product I reviewed was from a fairly well-known brand and I was happy to give it a big thumbs up! Today, I am extremely excited to be doing a review on a new, up-and-coming brand.

As some of you may know, I am frequently searching for fun and delicious new items. As it happens, last month while I was visiting  a Natural Food Industry Grocery Table Top Show, which happened to be at Disney World Orlando, (…who’s going to complain about that?!) I discovered  Ardenne Farm.

If you have yet to discover them yourself, you need to check them out! I had the chance to sample several of their items at the show, and was very pleasantly surprised by how tasty the line was. I decided I needed to reach out to them and see about trying out a few mixes myself so I could see how well they baked up.

Today I went into the kitchen and decided to try baking one of the mixes I didn’t get a chance to try at the table top show. That mix happened to be Ardenne Farm’s Cinnamon Crunch Muffins, which also happens to be one of my favorite types of muffins.

Like most box mixes, preparation was a breeze, although the streusel adds an extra step, which is well worth it. A splash of oil, cracking two eggs, and stirring in some milk, and you have your batter.  As a side note, for added flavor you may want to add in one tablespoon of vanilla extract and for even more cinnamony-ess, try adding half a tablespoon of ground cinnamon.

One thing I really liked with this mix was that they gave you options of either baking a delicious 8X8 crumb cake or cinnamon crunch muffins. I opted for the muffin instead of the crumb cake, and used a 6-count jumbo tin instead of a standard sized tin (because who doesn’t prefer a jumbo sized muffin???).

Now I will say, I had to bake my muffins an extra eight minutes longer than the suggested bake time for jumbo muffins. Also, without the added vanilla and cinnamon it wouldn’t have been as flavorful (though still tasty and a great gluten-free treat).

So all in all, I have no real complaints about this mix, other than needing to adjust my bake time a bit and needing to add a little additional flavor. The good things I can say are…

  • Easy to whip up
  • Not only is this mix certified gluten-free, it also happens to be vegan
  • There’s no artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives

  1. There are so many flour blends on the market now, it would take a small fortune to try them all. And I still haven’t found any that makes a good old-fashion biscuit that isn’t grainy! What would be your recommendation for a good quality flour blend for baking, and especially for making biscuits.

      I agree, there are so many option these days that you could spend a small fortune trying them all. I would say I’ve tried a lot of flour blends and the one I keep going back to is Bob’s Red Mill All Purpose Gluten Free Flour. Now, they also make a biscuit mix that’s gluten free…you may want to try that if you’d like the convenience of a mix. http://amzn.to/1Y0ZGNz
